Job Summary: The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production department, ensuring efficient manufacturing processes, maintaining high-quality standards, and achieving production targets. This role involves managing a team of production staff, coordinating with other departments, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Oversight:
- Manage and supervise the production processes to ensure they meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and deadlines.
- Monitor and optimize production workflows to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
Team Management:
- Lead, train, and develop the production team to enhance their skills and performance.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Quality Control:
- Ensure all products meet the company\'s quality standards and customer specifications.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to implement quality control measures and resolve any quality issues promptly.
Health and Safety:
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the production department.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and BASFs safety protocols.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in production processes and implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Drive initiatives to reduce production costs, increase productivity, and enhance product quality.
- Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements to incorporate best practices.
Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with other departments such as R&D, Procurement, and Maintenance to ensure smooth production operations.
- Communicate effectively with senior management regarding production status, issues, and improvement plans.
- Prepare and present regular production reports and performance metrics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A Masters degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role within the chemical or manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of production management, quality control, and health and safety standards.
- Proven experience in leading and developing a production team.
- Proficiency in production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
