The Nurse Manager leads the Veterinary nursing team, ensuring high standards of patient care and clinical operations. This role focuses on nursing staff management, patient care coordination, and improving quality of service.
The position will be reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and will work closely with the Specialists and Veterinarians to ensure smooth running of all departments, and the hospital runs effectively, balancing financial goals with patient care priorities.
The Nurse Manager will have a dual role to head the nursing team at Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) Department and take the responsibility to lead the Nursing team for other clinical departments.
Work schedule 4 days a week on rotational basis. 3 days will be dedicated to the ECC department including weekdays, weekends and Public Holidays as per the need of the department and 1 day per week will be allocated as operational day to work on improving the operational processes with the COO.
Work timings 3 days ECC work schedule will be from 7 am to 7 pm. Operational day timings will be from 9 am to 6pm and will be a fixed day schedule.
Hospital Operations
Oversee daily operations across all clinical departments, ensuring standardized workflows working together with the COO.
Conduct annual operational audits to identify bottlenecks, aiming to reduce patient downtime through optimized scheduling.
Implement time-management initiatives to minimize workflow interruptions, tracking improvement in operational smoothness quarterly.
Maintain staff operational readiness through structured trainings on defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
ECC Service Management
Maintain 24/7 ECC nurse availability, ensuring complete shift coverage with minimal gaps affecting patient care.
Utilize data-driven shift planning to optimize emergency staffing, ensuring adequate resources during peak hours.
Implement triage optimization techniques, leveraging digital platforms to improve emergency case prioritization.
Track ECC performance using clinical KPIs, including patient outcome success rates and satisfaction metrics.
Conduct regular ECC workflow analysis, streamlining patient intake processes for improved emergency response times.
Introduce training modules for ECC nurses, focusing on rapid decision-making and high-pressure case handling.
Establish real-time incident response teams, ensuring immediate intervention in critical cases.
Standardize ECC reporting and documentation, ensuring smooth case transitions between departments.
Foster collaboration between ECC staff and other hospital departments, ensuring seamless patient care integration.
Benchmark ECC patient recovery rates against industry-leading veterinary hospitals, identifying areas for refinement.
Human Resource & Workforce Planning
Implement mentorship and coaching initiatives for staff growth with nurse training across hospital.
Champion diversity and inclusion in hiring and workplace practices
Address staff grievances and resolve conflicts promptly and fairly working with the COO.
Monitor and manage staff scheduling, attendance, and leave across the hospital to ensure adequate shift coverage with minimal gaps affecting patient care.
Interact with Universities for internship and externship opportunities for nurses
Manage and support Department Heads and attend interviews for nursing staff selection.
Address disciplinary issues for timely action for clinical staff
A degree or diploma in veterinary nursing or general nursing.
Any advanced diplomas or specialized veterinary nursing certifications like Cert III or Cert IV
At least 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in veterinary nursing is preferred
Expertise in patient care, staff management, and clinical operations with background in healthcare / hospital administration
Ability to train and mentor nursing staff.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of veterinary healthcare protocols and compliance.
