Assistant Manager / Manager, Group Commercial and Products

Introduction:

The role sits within the Group Commercial and Products team and will act as an internal product specialist and gatekeeper. The role will be responsible for supporting all the offices across the Group in ensuring all life insurance carriers and products approved are aligned with the company’s strategic direction and reflect company’s commitment to deliver premium wealth planning / liquidity solutions tailored to the clients’ needs. The team works with insurance partners to obtain an in-depth knowledge of products available in the high net worth market in order to provide our businesses globally with relevant analysis and recommendations to optimize our market position with referral partners and clients. It also includes working closely with Sales, Marketing and Compliance to develop presentation materials, product campaigns and initiatives to support external engagement efforts.

Responsibilities:

Manage and see through the new carriers and products onboarding and approval process, ensuring compliance to the requirements of the Carrier and Product Approval Guide, and the adoption and implementation of sound internal controls.
  • Facilitate the conduct of due diligence checks on potential new carriers and prepare business case for internal committee’s approval
  • Monitor the financial strength ratings of approved carriers ongoingly
  • Prepare and support the conduct of regular world check screening process of existing insurance carrier partners and assist with evaluating the business risks associated with known and potential market liabilities, if any. Provide input to, and prepare, business reports that effectively communicate review/assessment findings.
  • Research, evaluate and onboard market-competitive insurance products & solutions
  • Be accountable for the update and maintenance of Group Approved Life Product List and Carrier Register.
  • Prepare and deliver regular and timely communication of carrier and product updates to referral partners
  • Provide carrier and product related analysis, maintain up-to-date product comparison summary as well as prepare regular market update presentations/materials to assist sales consultants 
  • Review and stay up to date on product performance (e.g., participating fund returns, fulfilment ratios, historical crediting interest rates of Universal Life) 
  • Respond timely and professionally to product and carrier related enquiries from both internal teams and referral partners.
  • Manage due diligence requirements from referral partners as and when required
  • “Keep in touch with the ground” by engaging the sales consultants on a regular basis to procure ideas, evaluate market needs and obtain feedbacks on carriers and products.
  • Keep abreast of the implications of regulatory capital requirements on life insurance companies and their management of underlying product fund
  • Review and modify the Carrier and Product Approval Guide to ensure process and operating standards remain relevant, business focused and efficient. 
  • Support the team with all relevant dealings with the carriers and referral partners as and when required
  • Any Ad hoc tasks as assigned

Requirements:

  • At least 2-3 years of professional work experience in the life insurance or financial services industry. 
  • Good understanding of life insurance products, high net worth experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills – excellent attention to details and the ability to see things through to completion.
  • Strong cross-team collaboration and relationship management skills to manage internal and external stakeholders
  • Prior experience with illustration software, product development, competitive analysis is helpful
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and also in a team effectively while managing tight timelines; be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work load while working in an agile manner
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools i.e., Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Educational qualifications: Diploma/University Graduate or other relevant professional qualifications
