Introduction:

Our client, a leading shipping company, is now looking for a high calibre candidate of Claims Manager to support commercial team, reporting to General Manager, to join its Hong Kong office.

Responsibilities:

• Give in-house guidance on a wide variety of issues that may occur pre- and post-fixture.
• Analyse, interpret and explain charterparty clauses on a practical level, as well as from a legal perspective.
• Remain up to date on new regulations, case law and other relevant legal developments.
• Ensure compliance with sanctions regulations, including conducting thorough due diligence assessments to mitigate the risks of engaging with sanctioned entities.
• Assist in making good commercial decisions while safeguarding company interests, balancing customers' needs.
• Add value to commercial dispute resolution by assessing claim exposure and providing expert opinion on optimal handling strategies.
• Handle assigned claims in collaboration with internal (Chartering and operations colleagues) and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective resolution.

Requirements:

• Good memory, attend to detail, innate ability to quickly identify differences between similar situations.
• Good command of English.
• Dry bulk chartering and/or operations background is essential, legal background will be a plus.
• Strong in handling multiple sorts of information and prioritizing work independently.
• Good at collecting and analysing data and working in an organized manner.
• Strong in proof-read and check voluminous documents and information for accuracy.
• Able to overcome objections or challenges diplomatically.
• Open for challenging opinions and able to take charge in unsupervised situations.
