Introduction:
The Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for a large-scale, multi-disciplinary engineering division. This role is responsible for ensuring the maximum availability, reliability, and safety of a mission-critical fleet of heavy machinery and extensive facility infrastructure. The successful candidate will lead a combined workforce of over 100 personnel across Mechanical, Electrical, Facility, and Reliability & Inventory departments to drive operational excellence in a high-volume, 24/7 industrial environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Fleet & Asset Maintenance (Mechanical & Electrical)
- Heavy Equipment Management: Direct the preventive and corrective maintenance strategies for a diverse fleet of specialized heavy lifting and material handling machinery, including Cranes, Reachstackers, Side Loaders, and Heavy Material Handlers.
- Electrical & Automation Systems: Supervise the maintenance of complex electrical systems, PLC controls, and automation technologies integrated into heavy assets to ensure precision and safety.
- Technical Authority: Act as the final technical authority for resolving complex mechanical and electrical failures to minimize operational downtime.
2. Engineering Reliability & Technical Inventory
- Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM): Lead the transition from reactive to predictive maintenance models; utilize data-driven insights (MTBF/MTTR) to optimize asset lifecycles and performance.
- Strategic Spare Parts Management: Oversee the technical inventory department to ensure constant availability of critical spare parts while optimizing stock levels and multi-million baht procurement budgets.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Spearhead systematic investigations into major equipment failures and implement robust engineering solutions to prevent recurrence.
3. Site & Facility Infrastructure Management
- Infrastructure Oversight: Manage the maintenance of all site infrastructure, including civil structures, high-voltage electrical substations, and industrial utility systems.
- CAPEX Project Management: Lead large-scale engineering projects related to facility upgrades, new equipment commissioning, and the expansion of site capabilities.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Oversee technical service providers and contractors to ensure high-quality delivery and adherence to rigorous project timelines.
4. Leadership, HSE & Compliance
- Large-Scale Team Leadership: Directly manage and mentor an engineering workforce of 100+ staff and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and professional growth.
- Safety & Environment: Enforce strict Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, ensuring 100% compliance with international safety regulations for heavy machinery operations.
- Financial Stewardship: Manage the annual engineering Opex and Capex budgets, identifying strategic opportunities for cost-optimization and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 10–20 years of experience in heavy machinery maintenance or engineering management.
- Leadership Background: Proven track record of managing large technical teams (100+ subordinates) within a complex industrial setting.
- Industry Background: Experience in High-Volume Logistics Hubs, Heavy Machinery Vendors, Intermodal Transportation, or Large-Scale Industrial Yards.
- Technical Mastery: * Hands-on knowledge of Specialized Heavy Lifting Equipment (Cranes/Loaders).
- Deep understanding of hydraulic systems, high-voltage electricity, and heavy-duty diesel engines.
- Proficiency in Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS/SAP).
- Language: Good command of English (written and verbal) for technical reporting and management coordination.
