Responsibilities:
Operational & Functional Excellence
- Optimize and harmonize regional Customs procedures across all APAC Tires entities by developing process documentation, workflow mapping, and standardized operating models.
- Drive the regional rollout of unified Customs processes and deliver training programs for local Customs teams.
- Oversee daily Customs operations and evaluate broker performance, providing direction and recommendations to enhance service quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Strategy & Business Impact
- Continuously monitor Customs-related laws, regulations, and trade policies relevant to the APAC region, and communicate timely updates with business implications to management and local Customs teams.
- Assess Customs and Foreign Trade regulations to identify risks, opportunities, and potential benefits; develop action plans, roadmaps, and presentations to maximize business advantages from favorable policies.
- Support and guide APAC entities in executing approved initiatives to capture regulatory and financial benefits.
Regulatory Compliance
- Conduct periodic reviews of Customs operations across APAC entities, including documentation review and gap analysis, to ensure full compliance with Customs and Foreign Trade requirements.
- Implement timely corrective actions in response to regulatory or policy changes to maintain compliance and protect company interests.
Audit Coordination & Support
- Provide support for internal and external Customs audits across the region.
- Act as the primary audit liaison when required, ensuring clear, accurate, and timely coordination between auditors and APAC entities.
- Drive and monitor corrective actions arising from audit findings to strengthen compliance and operational controls.
Project Management & Continuous Improvement
- Actively identify improvement opportunities and develop business cases to enhance Customs practices, operational effectiveness, and cost efficiency.
- Initiate and support initiatives such as system alignment, enhanced transparency of Customs activities, and trade analytics tools to enable data-driven decision-making.
- Lead and monitor strategic and optimization projects, maintain comprehensive documentation of outcomes, prepare progress reports, coordinate with stakeholders, and deliver training to ensure successful implementation.
Communication & Regional Collaboration
- Promote cross-country sharing of Customs best practices by organizing workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions across the APAC region.
- Identify and leverage synergies in Customs activities across multiple APAC entities to improve regional alignment and effectiveness.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Informatics, or a related interdisciplinary field (e.g., International Business Law or Business Informatics).
- More than 5 years of hands-on experience in Customs and Foreign Trade operations.
- Solid understanding of Supply Chain and Logistics processes.
- Working knowledge of Taxation and Excise fundamentals.
- Practical experience in Customs operations, compliance, and broker management.
- Basic to intermediate understanding of Finance and reporting principles.
- Proven experience in cross-functional or interdisciplinary project work; experience as a Project Lead or Workstream Lead is an advantage.
- Strong self-leadership skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills to collaborate effectively across functions, cultures, and countries.
