Introduction:
We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced costing engineer to serve as the key financial leader for assigned manufacturing programs, managing all financial aspects from initial quotation through end-of-life. This role is crucial for ensuring profitability, controlling costs, and providing critical financial guidance to cross-functional program teams.
Responsibilities:
- Full Program Financial Management: Manage and control all financial aspects of assigned programs throughout their entire lifecycle, ensuring profitability and adherence to financial metrics (e.g., ROS%, IRR%, ROA%)
- Quotation and Pricing Strategy: Lead the development of comprehensive and competitive quotations for OEM customers, including determining sales price, tooling, engineering/design, and prototype costs.
- Cost Analysis and Control: Drive profitability by tracking sales price and manufacturing costs against the latest engineering design levels. Review complex Bill of Materials (BOM) and manufacturing assumptions for reasonableness.
- Engineering Change Evaluation: Evaluate the financial impact of all engineering changes, analyzing effects on cost, pricing, and tooling amortization to maintain program margins.
- Investment Planning: Prepare and justify capital appropriation requests (CARs) and tooling purchase authorizations (TPAs), supporting long-term investment strategies.
- Strategic Analysis: Conduct detailed "make vs. buy" analyses and special financial studies to support strategic business decisions and product cost reduction estimates.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Actively participate in weekly Simultaneous Development Team (SDT) meetings, communicate cost data effectively across the organization, and support Purchasing in supplier negotiations by providing clear cost targets.
- Reporting & Forecasting: Prepare and present monthly program financial metrics, and assist the finance team in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and the annual profit plan.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related analytical field.
- Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in Financial Management or Project Management within a manufacturing environment (preferably Automotive Tier-1), with specific experience in costing analysis and project budget control (at least 2 years in each area).
- Financial & Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze material/conversion cost variances and financial metrics. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities are essential.
- Communication & Negotiation: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with demonstrated negotiation abilities to manage commercial open issues and support purchasing activities.
- Program Management: Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex cost data to cross-functional teams.
