Introduction:
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Procurement Manager to lead and manage all strategic sourcing and purchasing activities for our critical operations within the maritime logistics sector. This role is crucial for ensuring cost-efficiency, supply chain integrity, and the timely acquisition of high-value assets, focusing primarily on heavy machinery, complex spare parts, and key operational services.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing & Category Management:
- Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies for the sourcing of Heavy Terminal Equipment (e.g., port cranes, reach stackers, terminal tractors) and related high-value spare parts.
- Lead the entire procurement lifecycle, from requirement definition and vendor pre-qualification through contract finalization and post-award management.
- CAPEX and Equipment Procurement:
- Manage large-scale Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) procurement projects, ensuring all phases of equipment acquisition and deployment are executed within budget and schedule.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering and Maintenance teams to define technical specifications for machinery and ensure compliance with operational needs and safety standards.
- Contract Negotiation & Vendor Management:
- Conduct high-stakes contract negotiations to secure favorable terms, pricing, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with global and local suppliers.
- Establish, maintain, and evaluate a robust vendor performance management system, driving continuous improvement and strategic partnership development.
- Logistics and Compliance:
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to international trade regulations, INCOTERMS, and local customs compliance requirements, minimizing delivery risks and optimizing import efficiency.
- Oversee the management of logistics and delivery schedules for critical equipment and spare parts.
- Leadership & Reporting:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the procurement team, fostering a culture of integrity, cost-consciousness, and continuous process optimization.
- Prepare and present strategic procurement reports, cost analyses, and future planning to senior management, providing actionable insights for business decisions.
Requirements:
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related analytical field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIPS) are a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Direct, hands-on experience in sourcing and procurement of heavy equipment or machinery spare parts is essential (e.g., for cranes, large vehicles, or industrial assets).
- Proven track record within the Port, Terminal, Shipping, or Heavy Logistics Industry is strongly preferred.
Technical & Functional Skills
- In-depth knowledge of end-to-end procurement processes, strategic sourcing methodologies, and advanced contract negotiation techniques.
- Strong familiarity with INCOTERMS, customs clearance, and import/export processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage CAPEX procurement for large, complex equipment projects.
- Proficiency in integrated ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for procurement operations.
Communication & Leadership
- Good command of business English communication skills (both written and verbal) for international vendor management.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and complex problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence multiple stakeholders to achieve commercial objectives.
