Our client, part of the world's largest Japanese transport group, operates in the Asia-Oceania region, providing ocean freight and maritime transportation services. Their technical team focuses on various projects and systems, including: LNG FSRU (Floating Storage Regasification Unit) projects for both new builds and conversions LNG FSU (Floating Storage Unit) conversion projects New energy sector projects like LCO2, ammonia, and LH2 carriers Onboard Carbon Capture Systems, including CCUS Fuel Cell application systems Additional R&D projects in related fields

About the Role:


The potential candidate for this role will support both the local and global project teams by providing technical and financial responses to business opportunities. Responsibilities include:


  • Assisting in establishing project strategies and administering project/operation budgets
  • Supporting the internal approval process and liaising with Tokyo HQ's Technical and Commercial teams
  • Contributing to project management and execution, such as plan approval, procurement, technical evaluations, site supervision, and commissioning
  • Managing site offices by scheduling, manpower distribution, and decision-making
  • Overseeing sub-contractors, ensuring quality in design and production
  • Assessing technical and operational feasibility of projects, conducting site surveys, and supporting environmental and safety discussions with clients and local authorities
  • Evaluating proposals from EPC contractors, vendors, and service providers, and assisting with operational concept development by liaising with O&M providers
  • Developing technical proposals for tenders, preparing marketing materials, and maintaining relationships with clients, partners, and industry players
  • Providing technical and operational analysis of opportunities and supporting interactions between commercial and technical teams
  • Representing the company at commercial and technical seminars, participating in committees, and traveling globally to support business development and project execution.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Maritime Engineering
  • At least 8 years of experience in marine technical-related business, with expertise in design, scheduling, managing, and commissioning projects.
  • Work experience with classification societies, flag states, and shipyards
  • Experience as a ship manager or working in ship management roles
  • Experience as a ship officer or engineer with on-board experience
  • LNGC and/or FSRU operation experience, including commissioning
