Introduction:

Industrial Engineering Manager - Cambodia Garment Factory Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia Global leader in textile and apparel manufacturing and supply chain management, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Engineering Manager to join their dynamic team at their garment manufacturing facility. This pivotal role will be responsible for driving efficiency, optimizing production processes, and implementing lean methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce costs across our garment manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities:


  1. Process Optimization & Efficiency Improvement:
  2. Conduct comprehensive time and motion studies, line balancing, and bottleneck analysis to identify areas for efficiency improvement within sewing, cutting, finishing, and packing departments.
  3. Develop and implement efficient workflow layouts, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices to optimize production flow and minimize waste.
  4. Lead initiatives to reduce cycle times, improve labor utilization, and increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  5. Method Study & Standardization:
  6. Analyze existing methods and develop new, improved, and standardized work methods for all operations to enhance productivity and quality.
  7. Establish accurate Standard Minute Values (SMVs) for all garment styles and operations.
  8. Production Planning Support:
  9. Collaborate closely with Production Planning to optimize line setups, production sequencing, and capacity planning.
  10. Provide critical data and insights to ensure realistic production targets and efficient resource allocation.
  11. Lean Manufacturing Implementation:
  12. Champion and drive the implementation of lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping) across the factory floor.
  13. Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  14. Technology & Automation:
  15. Identify opportunities for automation, new machinery, and technology adoption to improve efficiency and reduce manual labor where appropriate.
  16. Cost Reduction Initiatives:
  17. Proactively identify and implement cost-saving measures related to labor, materials, and overheads through process optimization.
  18. Conduct cost analysis for new styles and provide input on manufacturing feasibility.
  19. Training & Development:
  20. Train and mentor IE staff, supervisors, and operators on IE principles, best practices, and new methodologies.
  21. Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous learning.
  22. Reporting:
  23. Prepare and present regular reports on production efficiency, line performance, cost savings, and improvement initiatives to the Factory Manager and senior management.
  24. Compliance:
  25. Ensure all IE practices and implemented solutions comply with factory policies, industry standards, and relevant labor laws.



Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Textile Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.

Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in Industrial Engineering within the garment/apparel manufacturing industry, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or senior leadership role.

Proven, hands-on expertise in time & motion studies, line balancing, SMV calculation, and lean manufacturing methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, VSM) is essential.

Strong understanding of garment manufacturing processes (cutting, sewing, finishing, packing) and machinery.

Demonstrated ability to identify inefficiencies, develop practical solutions, and drive their implementation.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.

Proficiency in using IE software tools and Microsoft Excel.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and train at all levels.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment in Cambodia.

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Khmer would be an advantage.
