Our client is one of the largest independent referral veterinary hospital specialists in small animal surgery, internal medicine, neurology, exotic companion mammals, and cardiology, using state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic technology to provide personalized care. The hospital offers care through certified hydrotherapists and rehabilitation professionals, enhancing treatment outcomes and improving the quality of life for pets and their human companions.

Responsibilities:

Seeking an experienced board-certified Avian or Exotics Specialist with a strong background in exotic animal practice.

You will have a relevant specialist board certification and veterinary medicine degree and be eligible to obtain a veterinary license from the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVS) demonstrated specialized knowledge in exotic animal medicine


Thorough medical examinations: Conduct thorough physical examinations to assess the overall health and identify any abnormalities in exotic patients

Perform and interpret diagnostic testing: Performing and interpreting diagnostic tests, such as blood tests, radiographs, and collaborating with our ultrasonographers and imaging team if advanced imaging is required.

Plan and execute appropriate treatment: Developing treatment plans and overseeing the team to ensure treatments are carried out appropriately, for both outpatients and inpatients

Surgical procedures: Perform surgical procedures as indicated for exotic animals. Collaborate with our anaesthesia team to administer appropriate anaesthesia and analgesia for exotic patients.

Preventative care: Administering vaccinations, providing nutritional and husbandry advice.

Emergency care: Responding to exotic animal emergencies directly or via our 24/7 emergency team

Behavioural consultations may be required: for example, feather-plucking in birds or barbering in rodents

Administrative tasks: Maintain detailed and accurate medical records for all patients, ensuring compliance with clinic protocols and regulatory requirements. 

Contribute to department protocols and policies as required.

Commitment to continuous learning: Stay updated with advancements in exotic animal medicine through ongoing education and professional development


Requirements:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent

Licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Singapore

Keen interest in exotic animal medicine

Residency training or board certification in exotics is a plus but not necessary

Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with birds, reptiles, and small mammals, including their anatomy, physiology, pathology, and behavior

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and support staff
