Thailand job market 2020
Thailand 4.0 is a plan launched by the Thai government which aims to transform Thailand into a high-income nation by promoting innovation and advanced industries. To achieve this, the government has identified areas that will propel its development agenda forward, with robotics and digital technologies among the new areas identified to lead the charge.
Job markets are evolving. In this digital age, it may come as no surprise that IT roles are now one of the most popular job areas. Everyone is moving to a digital outlet, and companies continue to implement technology in the workplace to be able to compete. As a result, there is a spike in demand for highly-skilled tech workers in 2020.
Thailand has also a strong Manufacturing industry, making it a prime target for technology such as automation and robotics. With such technology promising greater production efficiency at lower costs, more and more firms are beginning to integrate them into their production lines, which leads to a demand for skilled workers that can manage industrial robots and automated systems.
However, the most sought-after jobs in Thailand are a mix of tech and non-tech. Sales jobs are ranked as the most popular job area in the country, followed by Engineering, IT, Accounting, and Administrative jobs respectively.
Equipping the workforce with these new digital skills is the Thai government’s top priority. Employers will not only need to upgrade and re-skill current employees but start recruiting for industry 4.0 and engage in strategic workforce planning to prepare for industry shifts.

JobsDB vs. LinkedIn in Thailand
JobsDB is widely used in Thailand for CV searches and job advertisements. Regionally this recruitment tool is very well known and has a strong database for all types of candidate skill sets, including fresh graduates. New CVs are uploaded every minute and job ads are emailed to targeted candidates every 24 hours.
LinkedIn is not as popular as JobsDB in Thailand, but seems to be picking up momentum for profile creations and job applications. Most profiles on LinkedIn have higher qualifications, more senior job levels and better skill sets than profiles on JobsDB. LinkedIn has some other advantages over JobsDB as well, like a more advanced search tool which is helpful for recruiters when searching for suitable candidates, and the possibility to build up candidate pools by connecting with people with all types of backgrounds. In addition, LinkedIn provides a brief overview of someone's background, which can be helpful when screening large numbers of CVs.
