China Temporary suspension of entry into China ![]() China has announced a reintroduction of the temporary suspension of entry into China for citizens of a number of countries as the ‘second-wave’ of Covid-19 is affecting many parts of the world as we head into winter.
On the 4th November, the Chinese Embassy in London announced the temporary suspension for Non-Chinese Nationals in the UK Holding Valid Chinese Visas or Residence Permits. The notice states:
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, China has decided to temporarily suspend entry into China by non-Chinese nationals in the UK holding visas or residence permits still valid at the time of this announcement. The Chinese Embassy and Consulates in the UK will no longer issue a Certified Health Declaration Form for the above-mentioned personnel.
As of the 8th November, similar measures have been imposed on a total of 11 countries, including Belgium, Italy, France, Russia, Ukraine, India, Philippines, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Ethiopia.
For non-Chinese citizens in those countries it is still unclear as to whether they can enter China via another country, or when the temporary suspension will be lifted.
Gemini’s Visa team is working closely with the relevant authorities in China to understand the current policy and be notified of policy changes as soon as they happen.
If you or your company would like to have a confidential discussion about what this means for you, then please contact our China Visa Manager, Lily Zhang.
Emerging and declining jobs in 2020 2020 has seen a significant impact on the way we work around the world, from a massive reduction in business travel to a rise in remote working and video conferencing.
What has also happened is an acceleration in the types of jobs that are rising and falling in demand. The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Survey 2020 highlighted these trends and showed that as to be expected there has been a rapid rise in online and automation roles, with a significant decrease in more traditional clerical, administration and traditional financial roles.
Whilst there is a heavy focus on the roles in the digital and AI spheres, it should also be noted there is an increased demand for Business Development Professionals, Strategic Advisors and Organizational Management Specialists that show that there is still a need for a ‘human’ element in the way we work, with soft skills being given increased importance in the workplace.
At Gemini, we are increasingly receiving enquires from clients who need support in modernising their organisations and ensuring that their teams are equipped to remain relevant and competitive in the constantly business environment. If you would like to speak to our team at Gemini Development about how we can support your company through a range of assessments to help you understand your employees and company culture better, then please contact us. ![]()
Supporting your business not just in Asia but globally Normally at this time of year, representatives from Gemini’s offices are just heading back from the annual NPAworldwide Asia Pacific Conference, but as we all know, this year is a little bit different!
NPAworldwide is a global recruiting network that connects independent recruitment firms around the world to facilitate the hiring of talent in virtually every country in the world. Gemini has been a member of NPA for many years, and it has been through this network that we have been able to help support our clients in Asia to expand their business into new markets through the support of our NPA partners in over 90 countries.
This year’s APAC Conference was held on Zoom, rather than the planned location of Singapore, which was a disappointment to all delegates, but it was still a great opportunity to come together to find opportunities for collaboration, learn about local market trends and latest industry news.
If you are an existing Gemini client in any of our offices and are planning to expand your business into new territories, then please do get in touch with your local Gemini team, to ask how we can utilise the NPA network with local recruitment and HR services wherever you plan to expand. ![]() ![]()
