Introduction:
Chemical Industry and Power Plant
Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight:
- Supervise and lead a team of utility operators during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to operational procedures, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor and control the daily operation of high-pressure boilers, steam generation, compressed air systems, cooling towers, water treatment plants (RO, wastewater), and electrical power distribution systems.
- Optimize utility system performance to maximize efficiency, minimize energy consumption, and ensure consistent supply to production units.
- Respond effectively to alarms, deviations, and emergencies, taking immediate corrective actions to maintain plant stability and safety.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Conduct first-line troubleshooting of utility equipment and systems, identifying root causes of malfunctions and implementing temporary or permanent solutions.
- Coordinate closely with the maintenance department for scheduled and unscheduled repairs, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative checks on all utility equipment.
- New Plant Setup & Optimization:
- Actively participate in the commissioning, startup, and performance testing phases of new utility systems or plant expansions.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new equipment and processes.
- Provide operational insights and feedback during new project implementation to ensure seamless integration and optimal future performance.
- Assist in the training of personnel on new utility systems and operational practices.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce strict adherence to all company safety policies, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, and environmental compliance standards.
- Conduct regular safety walk-throughs, identify hazards, and promote a strong safety culture within the shift team.
- Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Maintain accurate shift logs, production records, and utility consumption data.
- Prepare comprehensive shift handover reports, communicating critical information to incoming shifts and management.
- Communicate effectively with other departments (Production, Maintenance, EHS) to ensure coordinated operations.
Requirements:
- Education:
- Diploma or higher in Power Plant Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Technology, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in utility operations within an industrial or power generation environment.
- Essential: Proven experience operating and supervising high-pressure boilers and steam generation systems.
- Required: Strong background in power plant operations and management of integrated utility systems.
- Highly Desirable: Direct experience with new plant commissioning, startup activities, system integration, or expansion projects.
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of boiler operations, water treatment (RO/DM water, wastewater), cooling systems, compressed air systems, and electrical distribution.
- Familiarity with DCS (Distributed Control Systems) or SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and electrical schematics.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities for complex utility systems.
- Certifications & Licenses:
- Mandatory: Licensed Boiler Operator (or equivalent local certification).
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., confined space, hot work, LOTO) are a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and manage a shift team effectively.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to operational excellence and safety.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and in emergency situations.
- Adaptability to work in a continuous shift environment.
- Language:
- Proficiency in Thai (reading, writing, speaking).
- Working proficiency in English (reading technical manuals, basic communication).
