Growth Slow Down Towards Third and Last Quarter 2015 |
Outlook for job opportunities in the next three months appears slower, although the labour market remains tight. Reports see most companies with weaker financial performance, employers are slow in deciding about hiring new staff or making replacements to back fill.
The latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey report released indicates that the hiring prospects in Singapore in the third quarter will stay "relatively stable" but see a dip of 6% compared to 2014.
A recent survey discovered that the net employment outlook is showing signs of slowing down, businesses are working internally on how best to optimize current resources to improve process and operations.
The Ministry for Manpower highlighted that there are needs for a lean workforce, encouraging the use technology to improve productivity.
Tightening of the labour market is also a key reason for the slower growth, policy since 2010 moderated the growth for foreign workforce from 80,000 in 2011 to 26,000 in 2014.
