13 new job roles in tech recognised by Chinese government
As the Chinese economy rapidly develops from a manufacturing to service and technology based industries, the Chinese authorities have recognised 13 new job types that are in high demand. These jobs are a reflection of the changing nature of the changing economy and the increasing demand in roles in IT and technology.
Over recent years, Chinese citizens and business have adapted quickly to the digital world, with leading companies such as Alibaba, JD and Tencent leading the way in this digital transformation.
The impact this has had on the economy was highlighted in a recent report by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), which reported that the digital economy was worth close to RMB 30 trillion, more than half to China’s GDP.
China’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security has classified these new, in demand jobs and said that with the development of AI, the IOT, big data and cloud computing, people skilled in these disciplines are in high demand.
The 13 new jobs:
· Artificial Intelligence Technician
· Internet of Things (IOT) Technician
· Big Data Technician
· Cloud Computing Technician
· Digital Manager
· Building Information Model Technician
· E-sports Operator
· E-sport Player
· Unmanned aerial vehicle pilot
· Farm Manager
· Internet of Things Installation Debugger
· Industrial Robot System Operator
· Industrial Robot System Operation and Maintenance Operator
Due to the demand for people to take up these roles, the salaries for these roles are very attractive. This is likely to lead to a demand for universities to provide more education and training in these fields to meet the needs of the changing employment market.
