Sales & Project Applications Engineer


The Sales Engineer is responsible for directing the Company's internal activities associated with supporting the sale of new turbomachinery packages for the Oil and Gas market.


  • Applies knowledge of turbo-machinery products and services in the Oil and Gas markets to identify sales opportunities, propose solutions, and to convince customers that our products differentiate Solar as the best company to meet their needs
  • Develops, communicates, and executes a project specific sales strategy, with guidance from Sales Manager
  • Develops individual sales plans to meet targets and to assure customer satisfaction
  • Develops plans for customer calls, technical presentations, and appropriate customer entertainment. 
  • Attends industry conferences to establish contacts and to keep up to date with the technology
  • Works closely with Sales Manager to identify priorities, competitive threats, potential to deliver to customer expectations, pricing, challenges, opportunities, etc.
  • Works closely with PAE to prepare professional proposals, performance analysis and input regarding commercial terms and conditions.
  • Provides feedback regarding market activity and competition
  • Principal Accountabilities:\r\n• Develops a sales plan and forecast for assigned territory to support company-wide goals and strategies
  • Plans all of the actions necessary to meet objectives
  • Manages client relations, develops new contacts and markets
  • Manages customer interface and on-going relations with clients to assure all technical services are delivered as expected, to assure the next sale, and to assure Solar delivers to customer expectations
  • Researches the Oil and Gas markets to understand the optimum applications for Solar products.
  • Gains knowledge of the client’s business in order to understand the challenges and identify which Solar products are the optimal applications
  • Responsible to keep up-to-date on competitor technical and commercial developments, tactics, provide market feedback, etc.
  • Ensures all activities to fulfill contracts are in compliance with all company policies
  • Works closely with the Sales Manager and assures that all work products comply with company policies and procedures and is in concert with the company’s overall sales strategy
  • Extensive travel required within the assigned territory. Functions in multicultural environments, collaborating with other professionals to prepare technical and commercial proposals and coordinate contract details as well as to respond to unique project conditions/demands. Deals with dynamic, fast paced, ever shifting conditions and challenges.


  • A minimum of a BS degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent, and at least three years experience in related engineering assignments, preferably with turbo machinery applications.
  • An MBA is not mandatory but is considered to be an asset.
  • Must demonstrate general knowledge of turbo machinery principles and theory, mechanical and electrical engineering and applications related to our business.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of Oil and Gas markets and turbo machinery applications.
  • Requires experience preparing and delivering proposals and strong presentation skills.
  • Leadership skills are required; in order to identify and secure resources necessary to prepare proposals, deliver on commitments and to influence the customer to select Solar products
  • Must demonstrate the ability to interface cross culturally as well as cross functionally.
  • Fluency in Chinese and English language. \r\nPreferred Qualifications
  • Excellent technical knowledge of Solar equipment, competition; A high productivity level and sense of urgency
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; good business judgment; a willingness to travel (less than 25%), and a customer focused approach
  • The successful candidate will have a track record showing a high level of customer sensitivity and the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet firm deadlines for a variety of tasks 
  • Good skill in both English Speaking and Mandarin
